Invasive Species
Trade-Up Days

Program Details

Invasive Trade-Up Days are specific days in the Spring when landowners can remove ornamental invasive species from their landscape and bring them to WRISC for proper disposal. In exchange for the invasives, landowners receive a monetary voucher to a local greenhouse. Each invasive is worth one $10 voucher (limit of $100). The vouchers can then be used at local greenhouses, nurseries, or plant sales to purchase a native landscape alternative from WRISC's suggested list to replace the invasive that was removed.

WRISC will be hosting our 6th Annual Invasive Trade-Up Day event during the month of May 2026!

Inspired by Go Beyond Beauty

Learn More:

The Go Beyond Beauty program was started by the Northwest Michigan Invasive Species Network (ISN) in lower Michigan.

The Go Beyond Beauty program exists to provide positive recognition of Garden Professionals who exemplify business practices that benefit and protect our region’s natural areas. The program offers support to Garden Professionals and concerned citizen groups who want to remove high-priority invasive species from the plant trade. We work in a positive manner to provide science-based information to staff and host trade-in days where community members can learn how to properly dispose of invasive species.

Drop-Off Events:

Drop-off events for disposal of invasive shrubs will be held in all five WRISC Counties - Dickinson, Menominee, Florence, Forest, & Marinette!

Check out the WRISC Event page for details on Drop-Off dates and locations!
