Let's all welcome Natalie to the WRISC Team!
This fall, WRISC went through some staffing changes. We lost our long-time (and simply amazing) project manager Katherine, as she moved on to do amazing things with Downtown Iron Mountain.
But we also gained a spectacular new team member - Natalie!
Natalie was a member of our Strike Team seasonal crew during the 2024 season and we maintained her position at WRISC by inviting her to fill our vacant project manager position. Around the same time, Katherine accepted her new position, so we worked to get Natalie up to speed on all of our current projects, events, and initiatives. And so far she is rocking it!
Natalie will primarily be overseeing WRISC's outreach efforts, including social media and event planning. She will also be continuing to assist on other project work and field activities, such as data management, GIS mapping, and HWA surveying this winter!
Over the summer, Natalie has shown a deep passion for our work and WRISC's mission, and has worked diligently on our projects. Her creative design background has shown through in her recent social media management and we're excited for the ideas and creative energy she brings to the table!
A little more about Natalie, as told by her:
"I grew up in Minnesota, spending lots of time hiking and camping with my family, so I've always had a deep love for nature. After moving to Michigan, I got the chance to work for the DNR at J.W. Wells State Park for two summers. That experience made me realize I wanted to stick with the natural resources field and keep learning about the environment and how to help protect it."
